I'm so glad you took the time to stop by Honey Nest Photography. My name is Nicole Carpenter, and I'm a natural light photographer who serves the West Valley in Arizona. I grew up in Southern CA, and moved to Surprise, Arizona about four years ago. Photography is a passion of mine that allows me to use my creative attributes to capture memories for those around me. As I see it... The older we get, the quicker time seems to travel. Luckily, we've been blessed with our 'memory' to help us relive the moments we most cherish. Sometimes we can close our eyes and picture what it was like to hold our child in our arms when they were young. The recollections can trickle back about the day we graduated from college, or the day we exchanged vows with the love of our life. Unfortunantly, the simple details may escape us, and sometimes they're just too meaningful to forget. Photography makes all these valuable memories tangible, and that's why I love my camera. Not only does photography let us keep our recollections in close reach, it allows us to focus on our beautiful life. The vibrant colors in nature, the energy behind a smile, and even a hint of light on a window pane tells a story of our world. Photography is the means by which we can grasp a radiant moment, and then forever hang that image in our home. How To Prepare For Your Photo Session
Being well prepared for your photo session can make the difference between average and fabulous photos. Follow these easy tips and you’ll be well on your way to looking your absolute best. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me.First things first...Have fun and relax! Most people feel somewhat uncomfortable and awkward in front of the camera at first, so remember you're not alone. I will help guide you along the way. I like to capture people in more natural settings to maintain a sense of 'real life' in the photos, so you won't feel so contrived during the process.ArrivalArrive early or on time to your appointment. Showing up late means you lose camera time, and that's never good. StyleYou'’re unique and beautiful. Use your clothing to help show who you are on the inside. Make sure you’re comfortable in your clothing and that it flatters you. This will ensure that you like how you look when viewing your photos.If you'’re self-conscious about your arms, avoid sleeveless or cap-sleeve shirts and tank tops, as they tend to make arms look fuller.Try to avoid stripes and plaid. Solid colors photograph much better than busy patterns. Layering with different colors and textures is a great way to add personality to the pictures.I highly recommend bringing a bright accessory (ex. scarf, hat, hair clip, etc.) if you would like. These always look great in photos!MakeupMakeup that is well done is one of the best preparations you can make for your session. It will even out skin tones and help give your photos that extra pop. Even if you don’t normally wear makeup or wear very little, take the time to do it well and your photos will look their best. If you would like a referral for a make-up artist or hairstylist, let me know!JewelryKeep it simple. Big, shiny jewelry can distract from the important subject, you. PropsThey'’re great! Bring props that help show who you are. Some popular choices are:•Sports equipment (soccer ball, basketball, softball bat, etc.)•Sports uniforms•Musical instruments•Activity related items (dance, art, school clubs, etc.)•GlassesMost prescription lenses have a glare, so if you can go without them for a short time, it would be best. Otherwise, I will work on avoiding the glare if needbe!TanningIf you feel you'’re skin is too white and choose to tan outside or in a tanning bed, don'’t overdo it. We don'’t want you looking orange and leathery.ComplexionMakeup helps a lot here, but I do retouch your photos, so please don'’t be concerned about minor breakouts. I have you covered! If your acne is more severe, you'’re still okay. I'm happy to help you out with some extra retouching.Please contact me with any questions big or small.
